The First Thirty Seconds — Stephen M. Armstrong

"This book has genuinely changed my life." — Miss Remmers

"The First Thirty Seconds offers suggestive prompts for improving the management of one's behavior, thoughts, emotions, and relationships. It is presented in a unique format juxtaposing a relevant concept with a suggestion for further reflection. The result is a book that is effective as a personal growth resource and a library of thoughtful guidance."

This book is absolutely wonderful. It's different than any other book that I've read because it is impossible to read only the words. By this, I mean that this book requires thought and reflection. Throughout the course of reading this book, I have found myself reevaluating my own life and reflecting on my actions and my attitude. I wish I could memorize the pages to keep my reflections sharp in my mind. I have carried this book around in my bag for two weeks and I find myself turning to pages that I have dog-eared (GASP!). I have highlighted and I have scribbled. I have sticky notes and note cards scattered throughout. I wish that I had another copy to give away, I cannot imagine parting with my own copy, but I feel as though absolutely everyone should own this book. I'm so excited about this book, I know that my sentences are chopping and this is a very biased review — but I am so sincere when I saw that I really do want everyone one of my family, friends, and students to own this book. This book has genuinely changed my life — I will continue to cart it around and I will, undoubtedly, bring it with me into my classroom.
