Halloween = Group Fun! By: Denise Jaden I’ll be honest, I had a hard time coming up with an idea for a Halloween-related post. I couldn’t think of anything that particularly scared me as a child (besides my fear of heights, but I’ve talked about that enough in interviews) and I couldn’t seem to come up with anything weird or wild or supernatural in my memories. But the idea of writing this post did make me sit back and think about all the Halloweens of years past, and I’m so glad it did! It’s been so long since I’ve thought about the time my friends and I dressed up as the entire cast of The Wizard of Oz (I was the wicked witch), or when my brother and I made Flintstones costumes, including paper mache heads for our group one year (I was Pebbles).
The thing that tied all the memories together in my mind was that Halloween, for me, was always about group activities, and my group of friends always worked together to come up with something fun costume-wise. I dug through many, many photo albums to try and find some of my ancient Wizard of Oz or Flintstones photos, but unfortunately, I didn’t find any. I will leave you with the one Halloween picture of myself I could find. Keep in mind… this WAS the eighties! And yes, my friends also sported multi-colored hair that night!
