Lucifer Rising — Barbara Fifield

"Lucifer Rising" — Barbara Fifield

From Amazon.com...

"Can Elsa ever escape cult leader Tyrell, a reincarnation of the devil? What about him does she find so mesmerizing? Tyrell has lured women into his snare over many reincarnations. Will he succeed with Elsa? Or will she be able to break away from him?"

A quick read, "Lucifer Rising" addresses the issue of cults and reincarnation. While at times hard to follow (especially in regards to reincarnation), I enjoyed the premise of the plot. I liked the idea of a hard hitting reporter beginning a story to expose (or at least research) a religious cult and then getting sucked into it.

I liked how fast this novel progressed, because it was kind of a "heavy" read it worked. Although sometimes it was such a quick read it felt underdeveloped. I felt that the characters and relationships could have been better explained at points. At some points there were some paragraphs where I'd be like "Where did that come from?" and "What is happening?" I did enjoy the characters, I just wish they would have been explored more fully.

Because of the obvious religious references — this novel will not make it to my school shelves.
