Dating the Undead: Loving the Immoral Man — Gena Showalter and Jill Monroe

Release Date: December 27, 2011
Publisher: Harlequin
Challenges: 75+ Challenge

"Dating the Undead" is unlike anything I've ever received for review before. Think Paranormal Cosmo. In true magazine fashion, "Dating the Undead" has glossy pages, loads of advertisements, racy photos, somewhat shallow articles, couple quizzes, and even some "Help Me" letters/responses.

This... I hate to say book... magazine showed up on my door right after my Seniors finished studying satire (in conjunction with "Gulliver's Travels"). I brought it into class and we all had a great laugh — remember, Seniors folks — be aware of some age appropriate material. The entire work is all in good fun and I can't even imagine all the work that went into it. All of my co workers had a great laugh (as did my students) and it will definitely be something I share with my seniors again next year.

My favorite part of the work was definitely the advertisements. Here is a quick preview of the cleverness between the covers (bahaha get your minds out of the gutter).

G'Oreal — in shades of Angelic Ivory, Demonic Bronze, Zombie Baby-Blue, Vampi-Pale

Mythmatch.com: Tired of looking for an Angel but going home with a Demon? Ready to the bed the undead but not sure where to find the Zombie that's right for you?

U.P.T — Undead Pregnancy Test. The only pregnancy test that will tell you who (or what) the father of your baby is. Vampire, Demon, Angel, Zombie, or Werewolf

Vladimir's Secret

If it's love, it must be... deKay

If you're looking for something unlike anything else, a bit of satirical fun, and some extremely clever ideas — "Dating the Undead" is a great read! Perfect for the doctor's office — imagine the looks you would get!
