Today's Pinterest Project Creation is a little bit... er... different. It isn't actually from Pinterest (gasp!). My mother in law bought her two daughter in laws sewing machines for Christmas this year. Jaycee and I have been learning how to sew ever since. We have been attending one on one sewing classes in Mandan, ND for the past couple of weeks. Even thought this creation isn't from Pinterest, I thought I'd still share with you my awesomeness!
The first night we spent learning about our machines. The next two nights we spent on oven mitts. Yes, you heard me right — two 2 hour session (4 hours total) went into these oven mitts/hot pads. I was thinking it would take me thirty minutes! I may have forgot to count the "binding time" — next time I'm just going to turn in inside out and sew that way. Anyway, this is what I came up with.
That hot mess of stitching you see in the middle — oh, that's what I like to call (because I don't know the real term) "free stitching." It's with this random foot (that I had to buy extra) that allows you to any which way. It was a pain in my OCD butt, but I like the randomness — on this project at least.
Overall, I'm extremely proud of my first sewing creation! I can't wait to see what I come up with next. My all-time life mission (when it comes to sewing) is to hem my own pants! I'm so sick of buying "great deals" on jeans and dress pants only to spend an additional $15-$20 to have them hemmed!
As I begin my sewing adventures, any suggestions on what else to create (remember, uncreative beginner here folks)?
